Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for Adults in Phoenix

If you’re looking for support that’s a step above weekly therapy visits, Valley Hospital’s intensive outpatient program (IOP) may be right for you. It meets three times a week to help you recover from mental health and addiction issues.

IOP Mental Health Services at Valley Hospital: Why Choose Us?

Our IOP treatment program is for adults 18 and up. Typically, you come to IOP after completing our partial hospitalization program (PHP). You can also come to us with a referral from another provider. The program lasts eight weeks.

Group therapy sessions meet three days a week from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. You can choose which three days you’d like to attend. Working adults can attend our evening sessions from 6 to 9 p.m.

We offer a supportive, empathetic environment for your recovery. Our staff goes the extra mile to provide the resources you need to feel better. Since 2009, we have helped people in the Phoenix area recover from mental health and addiction disorders.

 Highlights of our program include:

  • Compassionate care providers: Our masters-level therapists are dedicated to your healing. You also receive care from a psychiatrist and a registered nurse. They work together to provide you with the services you need.
  • Group therapy sessions: Group therapy allows you to be seen and learn from other people’s experiences. Topics vary and may include communication skills, boundary setting and relapse prevention.
  • Women’s group: Led by a female therapist, this group focuses on women’s issues, such as domestic violence and sexual assault. This sensitive, caring environment can help you heal from trauma. Learn more.
  • Virtual therapy: Sessions are available virtually, though we recommend attending in person if possible. Learn more.
  • Helpful services: To help you stay energized, we provide a continental breakfast and snacks each day. We also offer transportation to and from our facility at no additional cost.

Treatment Tracks We Offer

We recognize that recovery looks different for each person. That’s why we developed several treatment tracks to suit your needs:

  • Mental health disorder: Get help for a mental health issue.
  • Substance use disorder: Get support for a substance use issue.
  • Dual diagnosis: This group is appropriate if you are dealing with a mental health disorder and a substance use issue.
  • Women’s group: This trauma-recovery group is for women only.
  • Justice served: If you’ve had issues with the law, such as getting a DUI or being in prison, this group may be right for you.

Mental Health Treatments We Provide

We use evidence-based treatments to aid in your recovery. You learn techniques to manage your emotions and navigate life’s challenges. Treatment may include:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT): You learn how to identify and change negative thoughts and feelings so you can handle challenges better.
  • Gestalt therapy: A therapist teaches you self-awareness and self-acceptance by using techniques, such as asking questions and role-playing.
  • Internal family systems therapy: Based on family therapy techniques, this treatment shows you how to heal the parts of yourself that are wounded.
  • Moral reconation therapy (MRT): This treatment helps people who have been in trouble with the law improve their thought processes and decision-making skills.
